Spider Control in Port Rowan
Port Rowan is a small Lake Erie community adjacent to Long Point Provincial Park and Long Point Bay, one of the most ecologically significant bird and wildlife areas in the Great Lakes basin. The Long Point wetland complex supports very high spider diversity and abundance, including numerous wetland-associated species. Residential properties bordering the park and the marsh system see a broader range of spider species than typical southwestern Ontario communities.
Seasonal properties in the Port Rowan and Long Point area are often closed for extended periods through winter, and the marsh-adjacent, high-humidity environment means spider populations establish readily in unoccupied crawlspaces and unheated storage areas. Spring opening on Long Point properties routinely involves clearing significant accumulated web activity.
