Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Spider Squad's services, our treatment product, the booking process, and what to expect on service day.

What is Spider Squad?

Spider Squad is a licensed, family-owned pest control company serving residential customers across Southern Ontario. We specialize in exterior spider control using Ontario government-approved, PMRA-registered products, and also treat ants, mosquitoes, and ticks.

What areas does Spider Squad serve?

We serve 12 regions across Southern Ontario: Niagara Region, Durham Region, Grey-Bruce, Haliburton County, Halton Region, Hamilton, The Kawarthas, Muskoka, Peel Region, Toronto, York Region, and Simcoe County. Each region has its own dedicated subdomain site with local contact details.

What product does Spider Squad use?

Our treatment products are professional-grade bifenthrin suspension concentrates - a professional-grade bifenthrin suspension concentrate (4.75% AI) registered with Health Canada's PMRA. It is applied by licensed technicians according to label directions. Once dry, it is safe for families and pets.

Is the treatment safe for my kids and pets?

Yes. Our treatment products are safe for children and pets once the treated surfaces have dried, which typically takes 30 to 60 minutes after application. We apply it to exterior surfaces only in most residential treatments. There is minimal odour and no staining.

Do you need to come inside my home?

In the vast majority of residential treatments, no. We treat the full exterior perimeter of your home - foundations, window sills, door frames, soffits, and eaves - which is where spiders enter, harbour, and build webs. Interior treatment is available on request if you have active interior infestations.

Do I need to be home during the treatment?

Not necessarily. We do need access to the exterior of your property. If you have a gated backyard or areas that require access, someone should be available to let us in. Otherwise, you can remain inside or go out during treatment - whichever is more convenient for you.

How long does a treatment take?

A standard residential treatment takes two hours or less. Larger properties, multi-unit buildings, or bookings that include the web cleanout add-on may take longer. We'll give you an estimated timeframe when you book.

How long does the treatment last?

Our treatment products are formulated for residual effectiveness and resists rain, UV, and irrigation. In most conditions, a single application remains active for several weeks to a few months. Customers on our annual maintenance plan are treated at intervals designed to keep the barrier active before it starts to break down.

What spiders do you treat?

Our treatment is effective against common Ontario spider species including house spiders (Parasteatoda tepidariorum), wolf spiders (Lycosidae family), cellar spiders (Pholcidae), and funnel web spiders. We do not provide specialized exotic or medical spider removal - our service is for residential pest control of typical Ontario species.

Do you treat insects other than spiders?

Yes. We also treat ants (including carpenter ants and pavement ants), mosquitoes, and ticks. Our perimeter spray is effective against most crawling insects, so customers often see a reduction in multiple pest pressures after a spider control treatment. Mosquito and tick control is a separate yard spray service.

What is the web cleanout service?

Web cleanout is a physical removal of existing spider webs from the exterior of your home - eaves, corners, window frames, deck railings, and other surfaces. It is offered as an add-on to any treatment booking, quoted by property size. It is not required for the treatment to be effective, but many customers prefer a clean starting point.

What is your satisfaction guarantee?

If you are not satisfied with the results of your treatment, we will return and respray the property at no charge within two weeks of your original service date. We don't require extensive back-and-forth - if the treatment didn't work for you, we come back. That's the commitment.

How do I book a treatment?

Find your region on our website (spidersquad.ca), visit the regional site, and submit a free quote request through the form on the page. You can also call us directly at 905-935-7498. We respond to all inquiries within a few hours and can typically get you on the schedule within the same week.

How do I get a quote?

Call us at 905-935-7498 or use the quote form on your regional site. We'll ask a few questions about your property and follow up with a clear price - no obligation, no surprises. The price we quote is what you pay.

Do you offer annual maintenance plans?

Yes. Our annual plan covers recurring seasonal treatments so your perimeter barrier stays active throughout the year. Annual plan customers get priority scheduling and consistent protection without needing to book reactively. Ask about annual plan options when you request your first quote.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. All Spider Squad technicians hold valid Ontario pest control licenses and we carry full liability insurance on every job. We operate in compliance with the Pesticides Act and all PMRA label requirements.

Is Spider Squad a franchise?

No. Spider Squad is a family-owned and operated business. We work with a network of licensed subcontractors across Ontario rather than franchising. We handle bookings and customer relations; the work is completed by vetted, licensed operators in each region.

Can the treatment harm my garden or landscaping?

Our treatment is applied to structural surfaces - your home's exterior walls, frames, soffits, and foundation - not broadcast across your garden. When applied according to label directions, it poses minimal risk to non-target plants. If you have specific concerns about particular plants or features near your foundation, mention them when you book and we'll address them directly.

What if it rains after my treatment?

Our treatment products are designed to resist rain washoff once it has cured on the surface. We recommend allowing at least a few hours of dry weather after application for optimal curing. If significant rain occurs shortly after treatment and you're concerned about efficacy, contact us - our guarantee covers you.

Do you service commercial properties?

Our primary focus is residential pest control. We can discuss commercial property requests on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to describe your property and we'll let you know if it's something we can accommodate.
