# Suspend Polyzone — Spider Squad

Suspend Polyzone is one of the primary treatment products used by Spider Squad operators for exterior spider, ant, and perimeter pest control across Ontario.

## What It Is

Suspend Polyzone is a bifenthrin suspension concentrate (SC formulation) manufactured by Bayer (now Envu). The active ingredient is bifenthrin at 9.7% concentration. It is registered with Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) for use by licensed pest control professionals.

"Polyzone" refers to the polymer encapsulation technology in the formulation. The bifenthrin active ingredient is suspended in a polymer matrix that extends residual life significantly compared to standard EC (emulsifiable concentrate) formulations.

## How It Works

Suspend Polyzone is a synthetic pyrethroid. It works on contact — insects that cross treated surfaces absorb bifenthrin through the exoskeleton, causing nervous system disruption and rapid knockdown. It also has repellent properties that discourage pests from establishing in treated zones.

The polymer matrix creates a microencapsulated layer on treated surfaces that resists rain washoff and UV degradation. This is what makes it significantly more durable than retail spider sprays, which typically use lower-concentration pyrethroids without polymer protection.

## Why It's Used for Spider Control

Spider Squad selected Suspend Polyzone as the standard product because:
- Superior residual longevity on exterior building surfaces (30 to 90 days depending on surface type and exposure)
- Rain resistance — the polymer matrix reduces washoff after rainfall, a critical factor for Ontario's unpredictable summer weather
- Minimal odour during and after application
- No staining on painted or finished surfaces
- Effective against the full range of Ontario spiders and the insect prey that attract them

## What It Controls

Bifenthrin is broad-spectrum. Suspend Polyzone is registered and effective against: spiders, ants (including carpenter ants), centipedes, earwigs, silverfish, cockroaches, flies, and a wide range of other crawling and flying insects. A spider perimeter treatment often reduces multiple pest pressures simultaneously.

## Safety

Suspend Polyzone carries a caution label (lowest Health Canada hazard category) when used as directed. Once treated surfaces are fully dry — typically 30 to 60 minutes after application — the area is safe for children and pets. It is applied to exterior surfaces only in standard residential treatments. Bifenthrin is toxic to aquatic organisms; applications near open water are managed accordingly.

## How It's Applied

Diluted with water according to PMRA label specifications and applied with a professional pump sprayer at low pressure. Targeted to pest-travel surfaces and harbouring zones — foundation perimeter, window frames, door frames, soffits, eaves — not blanketed across the property.
