# Our Products — Spider Squad Spider Squad uses professional-grade, PMRA-registered pest control products applied by licensed operators. These are not retail products. ## Primary Products ### Suspend Polyzone Type: Bifenthrin suspension concentrate (SC), 9.7% bifenthrin Manufacturer: Bayer (Envu) Registration: PMRA-registered for professional residential use in Canada The "Polyzone" designation refers to the polymer encapsulation technology. The active ingredient (bifenthrin) is suspended in a polymer matrix that makes the product resistant to rain washoff and UV degradation — significantly extending residual life compared to standard spray formulations. This is the primary reason Suspend Polyzone outperforms retail spider sprays: it's not just the concentration, it's the delivery mechanism. Primary use: exterior spider control, ant control, perimeter pest barrier. ### Dragnet Type: Bifenthrin insecticide concentrate Registration: PMRA-registered for professional use in Canada Dragnet is a bifenthrin product used by some Spider Squad operators depending on application preference and site conditions. Functionally similar to Suspend Polyzone — same active ingredient, same mechanism of action. Both are professional-grade and produce equivalent perimeter control outcomes. Primary use: exterior perimeter treatment for spiders, ants, and crawling insects. ## Active Ingredient: Bifenthrin Bifenthrin is a synthetic pyrethroid — a class of insecticides modelled after pyrethrins, which occur naturally in chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethroids are among the most widely studied active ingredients in professional pest control and are used globally by licensed operators. Mechanism: bifenthrin disrupts the sodium channels in insect nerve cell membranes, causing paralysis and death on contact. It also has repellent properties at low concentrations that prevent insects from establishing in treated zones. **Why bifenthrin over other options:** - Broad-spectrum efficacy against the full range of Ontario spiders and the insects they prey on - Long residual life on exterior building surfaces - Established safety profile when applied according to PMRA label - Minimal odour, no staining on building materials - Widely used and trusted among licensed pest control professionals ## Safety Profile PMRA classification: caution label (lowest Health Canada hazard tier) when used as directed. Safe for children and pets once treated surfaces are dry (typically 30 to 60 minutes post-application). Applied to exterior building surfaces in standard residential treatments — not applied to interior living areas unless specifically requested and discussed. Bifenthrin is toxic to aquatic invertebrates and fish. Spider Squad operators manage applications near open water accordingly and do not apply near water features, ponds, or drainage paths. ## What We Don't Use Spider Squad does not use organophosphates, carbamates, or neonicotinoids for standard residential treatments. We do not use products that haven't cleared PMRA registration. No unregistered or off-label applications. ## Why Not Retail Products Consumer spider sprays typically use lower-concentration pyrethroids or pyrethrins without polymer protection. They break down quickly outdoors — often within days of rain or sun exposure. Professional SC formulations with polymer matrices maintain residual activity for weeks. This is the fundamental performance difference, not just concentration.
