# Spider Control Halton Region — Spider Squad ## Service Area Spider Squad serves Halton Region, including Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown, Acton, Campbellville, and surrounding municipalities within Halton Hills and the rural Halton area. ## Spider Pressure in Halton Halton Region combines urban and suburban residential with agricultural areas and significant Niagara Escarpment and Greenbelt territory. This mix produces variable pest pressure across the region. **Burlington and Oakville (Lake Ontario shoreline):** Mature suburban communities with established tree canopy, gardens, and large lots. House spider and cellar spider activity is consistent in older housing stock. Orb weavers are highly visible in late summer across established garden zones. The Bronte Creek Provincial Park corridor and Rattlesnake Point adjacent areas in Burlington and Milton have higher tick density than the suburban core. **Milton:** One of the fastest-growing municipalities in Canada — high new construction activity means significant ground disturbance and sustained wolf spider pressure in developing subdivisions. Properties adjacent to agricultural fields have higher insect and spider pressure than mid-subdivision locations. **Georgetown and Halton Hills:** Rural edge communities with agricultural adjacency. Higher mosquito pressure from Credit River floodplain and retention features. Escarpment forest adjacency in the Niagara Escarpment UNESCO Biosphere area means above-average tick density for properties near conservation lands. **Campbellville and rural Halton:** Small communities and estate properties in the Escarpment zone. Highest tick pressure in the region — this area overlaps with documented blacklegged tick habitat. Mosquito pressure is higher near the Credit watershed and rural pond/wetland features. ## Escarpment and Greenbelt Properties Properties in and around the Niagara Escarpment in Halton face higher tick exposure than the urban core. The Escarpment woodland corridor is one of the established blacklegged tick expansion zones in southern Ontario. Tick treatment for perimeter zones and transition areas (lawn-to-brush or lawn-to-tree edge) is appropriate for Campbellville, Kilbride, Freelton, and other escarpment-adjacent locations. ## Seasonal Notes Halton follows standard southern Ontario spider timing: activity peaks mid-June through October. Lake Ontario moderation benefits Burlington and south Oakville — marginally milder fall than inland areas. Milton and Georgetown, being further from the lake, experience more pronounced temperature swings. ## Services Available in Halton - Exterior spider perimeter treatment - Mosquito treatment - Tick treatment (especially Halton Hills, Campbellville, Kilbride, Georgetown rural areas) - Interior spot treatment - Multi-unit residential and commercial properties ## Cities and Areas Served Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Georgetown, Acton, Campbellville, Kilbride, Freelton, Carlisle, Lowville, Bronte, and surrounding Halton communities.
