# Outdoor Event Pest Control — Spider Squad Ontario ## What Spider Squad Treats for Events Outdoor events in Ontario — weddings, corporate events, family gatherings, concerts, festivals, and private parties — can be significantly affected by mosquitoes, spiders at structural elements, and in some venues, ticks in adjacent grass or natural areas. Spider Squad provides pre-event treatment for: **Mosquitoes:** The primary concern for outdoor evening events and daytime events in humid or waterfront environments. Mosquito treatment is applied to resting vegetation — the shrubs, trees, tall grass, and shaded plant material surrounding the event space. Mosquitoes rest in this vegetation during the day and are active at dusk and through the evening. Treatment applied 1–3 days before the event dramatically reduces the mosquito population in and around the event area. **Spiders at venue structures:** Outdoor tent poles, pavilions, pergolas, gazebos, and building exteriors that form part of the event environment can accumulate orb weaver webs, house spider webs, and in some cases wolf spider activity. Structural spot treatment and web cleanout prepares the visual environment. For venues with permanent structures (barns, heritage buildings, tented venues with eaves), perimeter treatment before the event reduces spider activity during the event. **Ticks:** For events at rural properties, agricultural venues, farms, estates with natural areas, or conservation-adjacent sites — particularly in Simcoe, Grey-Bruce, Kawarthas, Muskoka, and Haliburton — tick treatment of the perimeter zone and transition areas (where lawn meets brush or trees) is appropriate if the event involves guests in or near natural areas. ## Treatment Timing for Events **Mosquito treatment:** Apply 24–72 hours before the event date. Do not apply immediately before an event — products need to dry and the initial volatilization phase needs to pass. Apply no less than 12–24 hours ahead. Residual covers the event and typically 3–4 weeks beyond. **Spider treatment:** Apply 3–7 days before the event to allow time for spiders disturbed by treatment to leave the area and for the barrier to establish. Web cleanout at the event structures can be done 1–2 days before. **Tick treatment:** Optimal 7–14 days before the event for maximum residual establishment in the vegetation zone. For events with multiple treatments required (mosquito + spider + tick), a single booking with coordinated application timing is available. ## Venue Types Served - Private estates and residential properties hosting weddings or parties - Agricultural properties and farm venues - Tent venues and outdoor pavilions - Conservation authority or provincial park adjacent private properties - Resort and hospitality properties - Corporate campus outdoor event spaces ## What Spider Squad Does Not Treat for Events Biting flies other than mosquitoes (stable flies, deer flies, horse flies) are largely a different treatment category — they do not rest in vegetation and are not effectively controlled by residual spray. Wasp and hornet nests at a venue are addressed as a separate service from Spider Squad's general pest service. ## Coordination and Notice Event bookings require a minimum of 72 hours' notice for mosquito treatment, 5 days' notice for combined multi-service events. For large venues (over 2 acres of treatment area) or venues with complex access (gated properties, permits required), contact as early as possible. To book: 905-935-7498 or spidersquad.ca. Include the event date, the property address, approximate outdoor area in use, and any specific pest concerns (mosquitoes, spiders, ticks).
